Dresses are a favourite staple in my wardrobe. I have all varying lengths of dresses in my wardrobe, but one of the common lengths would be the midi length style. In today’s post, I wanted to share with you some boho midi dresses with sleeves I came across while researching where you could buy Boho Maxi Dresses in Australia.

How to choose the right Boho Midi Dress for you

No matter your height, there will be a Boho Midi Dress perfect for you. The length of the dress will be key, and ideally you will want the hem of the dress to finish at the top of your calf or just after the knee. This will give the illusion of more leg showing and elongate your look.

Choosing a dress with an A-line skirt will also flatter. If you find a billowing midi dress, opt to go a size lower if it fits up top.

Basic Tops That Cover a Tum and Bum

I love tops that have a longer hemline and cover a tum and bum.

While I don’t want the top to swamp me like a tunic, a bit of length instead of a cropped style is my preferred basic top to wear. Do you like the same?

It can be hard to find basic tops that cover a tum and bum, but I have found a few retailers and brands which have tops available with these requirements.

I have bought these tops from Sussan (last winter) and their lengths have been perfect.

For shorter tops, I tend to wear a longer singlet underneath to add extra length to cover my tum.

All Pieces Bright And Beautiful

Since embracing self-isolation for the past few weeks, I have done quite the scrolling online.

My thumb has certainly had quite the workout. Ha!

I don’t need any new clothes, yet I find it quite enjoyable to browse stores online to see what new arrivals have come in store.

My intention for this year to buy less but spend more has been going not too bad. I haven’t purchased much of anything new, apart from a red cocktail dress that is a style I had been looking for to add to my cocktail dress collection.

Right now, the clothes I’m being drawn to are all pieces bright and beautiful. Floral and geometric prints with a lot of colour.

Colour makes me happy and I think it can really lift your spirit. It lifts mine when I wear it. I think we all need our spirits lifted at present.

I would love to have one of everything. But my personal favourites are the Minnie and Maxxie dress. The long sleeves make it a great dress for autumn. It can be layered with a denim jacket for winter.

I’m yet to buy my kids’ new teacher a thank you present (haha!) so one of these beauties may be added to cart before Easter.

Summer Layering: Kimono Dusters

Whenever I wear my kimono, I get comments on the pattern and how it flows around a tee and shorts outfit. I love the versatility of layering over shorts or jeans. Kimono Dusters are an ideal summer layer for when the air conditioning is on the icy side, or the cusp of Autumn is near.

The long line kimonos worn as dusters are a trans-seasonal piece. A duster is typically an open jacket or cardigan that drapes to the floor. It was a common term used in the 1920’s for long-line open jackets that were worn when travelling in an open car.

Now, the duster has evolved into cardigans, coats, jackets and now the open kimono.

Who knew I was wearing an evolving trend when I first purchased my kimono?

Since that post, I have found other kimonos that can be worn as dusters all year round. From budget to luxe, I’ve found kimono dusters for all price points.

Team your kimono duster with jeans and a white tee and you’re good to go. For a summer option, wear it over your swimmers or over a singlet and denim shorts. Some kimonos can also be worn as dresses. Maybe wear a slip underneath in case it gapes open.
