A Most Flattering Summer Dress… Well For me it is

I have been eyeing a few dresses from Little Party Dress. So many of my fashion blogging friends have shared outfits from this online shop. It seems the store stocks many flattering summer dresses.

A couple of months ago I fell in love with the Megan dress in the watermelon print. At the time it was winter and I wasn’t interested in buying clothes for summer yet.

Big mistake.

My size sold out.

I showed Jacob the dress and he loved it too. He told me I should have bought it when I saw it! What husband says that?!

But alas, I loved the Leopard Print dress and I thought the Cactus Print dress was pretty cute too. So I signed up to the newsletter, got my discount and free express shipping.

My dresses arrived the next day and they were a perfect fit. I’m calling it the most flattering summer dress. They are a roomy fit, as described online, so I’m glad I bought the size 14. If you choose to purchase, buy a size down.

What I love most about this flattering summer dress is that it has pockets, a belt to add some shape and it covers my shoulders and has sleeves.

I love the off the shoulder trend, but I went on a buying frenzy last summer and realised most of my dresses didn’t have shoulder coverage. I like to wear dresses to church and because Jacob and I tend to be outside after the service, I want dresses that have the shoulders covered for sun protection.

I wore my Cactus dress on a date night with Jacob in Coffs Harbour.

The Megan dress comes in a variety of patterns and from what I’ve noticed, the sizes do usually get restocked. Best to enquire though, if you love the style and a particular pattern.

I’ve teamed my leopard print dress with my Frankie 4 Sandals and some turquoise Adorne tassel earrings. I love a pop of colour and this outfit made me feel very happy.

6 Dresses That Caught my eye in the New Birdsnest Summer Catalogue for 2017

Yesterday I received my Birdsnest Summer Magazine in the mail. It’s got to be one of my favourite pieces of ‘junk’ mail I receive in my mailbox. That and the Sussan magazine.

While I was flipping through, there were a few dresses that caught my eye and I thought I’d share them with you. Some of them you can’t buy yet, as they haven’t been released online. You can pre-order them if they end up being love at first sight.

When it comes to purchasing from Birdsnest, I’ve found the sizing to be a bit all over the place, so I only usually buy the labels that I know fit me well like Firefly, Naudic, Boom Shankar, Lulu Soul and Ruby Yaya.

Some of these dresses have divine prints and colours, perfect for summer. There is a pattern for everyone in this mix with geometric, floral, stripes and polka dots.

So here are the 6 dresses that caught my eye from the new Birdsnest summer range.

1. Boho bird by Candlelight Maxi Dress $159.95 (pre-order only)

Floral Spring Racing Carnival Outfit Ideas For 2017

It’s a bit hard to believe that Spring Racing Carnival season is upon us. Melbourne Cup tends to be the one race that workplaces stop to put on a special lunch or organise an event. Any excuse to wear a dress and a fascinator in your hair is fine by me.

Florals are a big trend this season, and so I’ve found 3 budget floral dresses which would work perfectly for a Spring Racing outfit… and beyond.

There are some interesting takes on headwear this year. Succulent crowns are stunning and are a different take on the floral crowns we saw emerge in previous years. The boat hat will also be popular and adds a masculine touch to a feminine outfit.

When it comes to heels, I always choose a block heel or wedge to avoid sinking in grass if the event is outside. I find a block heel is easier to stand in when attending an event.

Here are three outfit options to consider, using some of my tips above.

I See Red, I See Red, I See Red – Red Fashion And Accessories For Spring 2017

It pleases me that red has made a fashion comeback this season. Even when it’s not on trend, I still wear it. Red has always been my favourite colour and of course, it’s always been my favourite colour to wear.

I’ve been loving a lot of gorgeous dresses, shoes and accessories in this gorgeous hue.

I know not everyone loves wearing red and it may not be a colour you like to wear. In these circumstances, I’d purchase red shoes or a handbag with red accents if you’re wanting to add this colour to your wardrobe.

Jasmine from Pretty Chuffed curated some fabulous red pieces for under $50. You can check that post out here.

My recent red acquirements have been a red boho top, which I’m wearing right now as I type, and this gorgeous red dress from Witchery.

My Three Favourite Fashion Boutique Stores in Brisbane (Who Also Have an Online Store)

When I want to buy some new clothes, there are three fashion boutique stores in Brisbane I usually head to. These stores not only have a bricks and mortar store which I enjoy visiting when I can, they also have an online store. I’ve loved purchasing from these stores and I’m always on the look out for new styles that are stocked in the stores.

What I love about these fashion boutiques is they offer value for money and great service. It also helps that they are on the southside of Brisbane. Sometimes I want to go into the store to see how a garment will fit before I purchase.

If you live in Brisbane, make sure these three stores are on your radar. These boutiques have a gorgeous interior, so it’s a lovely shopping experience when you head there.

Stylefast

I have bought a few dresses from Stylefast in the past when they were just an online store. I assumed it was an online store run down south, but in actual fact, it is based in Brisbane and the boutique in Camp Hill is gorgeous to visit. You can have a great morning buying clothes and getting a coffee at one of the café’s in the street. I bought my favourite Elm dress from here. If you’re in need of a special outfit or something new that’s unique, head to this store. You can shop online here.

I bought this Elm dress from the Stylefast boutique last Christmas.

Instyle Boutique

I have shopped at Instyle Boutique since Esther was little and Maggie was a newborn. They used to have a store at my local Forest Lake Shopping centre. But now my closest store is at Garden City. Every time I go in here, I never leave without making a purchase! Instyle Boutique now have an online store. My most recent purchase was this embroidered top. One of my favourite dresses, which I wore to Phoebe’s 1st Birthday party, was bought from the Forest Lake store.

Wardrobe 22

I love everything Wardrobe 22 brings in. I haven’t bought anything online, but prefer to go to the store in Salisbury to try things on. I always find it hard to limit my spending there because I want one of everything. Karen introduced me to the amazing Miracle dress and Tube Skirt. Wardrobe 22 also offers an online store so you can shop from home if you don’t live near the store.

All three of these boutiques will sometimes stock the same pieces. So if you find one store has sold out in your size, call them to see if they will get more in stock, but if they aren’t, check one of these stores to see if they stock it.
